A 1.5hr party is our most popular length by far, it seems to suit the majority of groups perfectly. Not too short and not too long. The kids usually go from start to finish without the need for a break no problem. Kids who are regular gamers (daily) would suit a 1.5hr party the best as they often know the games they like and can be more reluctant to play games outside of their preferences, so 1.5hrs is enough.
A 2hr party can often suit the non gamers well, kids who don't get to game on a daily basis, as it can often all be so new to them that 1.5hrs just isn't enough to fit in all the games and equipment!
Our max of 10 kids works well for the vast majority of groups with some Solo play (one person per screen) and some Multiplayer (2 per screen) For some games there is no downsides to multiplayer and the kids can often prefer it as they are playing directly with a friend, this type of play can often be the most fun!
However, if the birthday child and their friends wish to have the ultimate choice with less multiplayer and more solo play, and as close to a screen each as possible then simply reduce the number of invitees by 1 or 2. This can be the case for age 11, age 12 and age 13 parties more than any other age group.
We always try to prioritise the birthday child as much as possible but here's 2 other sensible reasons to consider reducing numbers from our maximum of 10 kids.
1, If your child is of a more quiet nature than their friends. By reducing numbers slightly the birthday child can feel more involved and less overwhelmed by their loud and sometimes demanding friends, resulting in a more enjoyable party for the birthday child.
2, ADHD, Autism or similar. If anyone attending could suffer a dislike to loud noise (caused by the enjoyment from the other kids) or may feel uncomfortable in small spaces. Or struggles to deal with compromise, needs to control their own environment or can get upset if they feel they're not having all choices their way and immediate, then yes we'd certainly advise reducing numbers.
Please tell us upon enquiring so we can advise as needed from the start. Also please don't make the common mistake that we see a lot of the time that although there are children attending where less numbers would be needed they go for max numbers but have the childrens parents stay 'so on hand if needed' this doesn't work unfortunately as the parents aren't watching so provide no assistance to our operator from inside the house.
